Sanel Busuladzic

RCM Recognized Guitar & Music Theory Teacher.

During the Bosnian war, Sanel immigrated to Canada. It was in Canada where he found a connection to music, the guitar, and oil painting (art). While completing his RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) Grade 8 education from Ontario, Canada he began teaching in 2007.

He founded his own small guitar teaching business to offer in-home guitar lessons for children and adults. As his guitar studio expanded he added Skype guitar lessons (in 2012, before remote lessons were even a thing!) to his list of services. Currently, Sanel uses Zoom platform for online guitar lessons.

Sanel loves to teach students who are curious and desire to excel at the guitar. He finds fulfillment in seeing his students learn and understand how to play guitar while developing their passion for music.

Sanel is grateful for being able to do what he loves to do!

Teaching is his calling, it’s his gift to the world. Sanel is grateful to see the transformation and impact he’s having on each student every week as they diligently work towards developing their guitar skills, minds and hearts.

Sanel's Guitar Teaching Philosophy

Foundation, Consistency, Excellence

Sanel’s guitar teaching philosophy is focused on establishing a strong foundation from the ground up. Similar to the foundation under a house, Sanel has created concrete starting points for the right and left hands which produce the foundation for a student to master guitar technique and musicianship. As a student progresses, their music repertoire and guitar studies get incrementally more complex as new concepts are introduced.

Demonstrate The Goal And Explain Why

Sanel believes that when a student is learning guitar it’s important to break down the concepts and explain how and why they work together to accomplish a musical goal. Sanel’s ability to demonstrate the finished piece or musical idea is beneficial to the student as they get to hear the goal they’re working towards.

Use Analogies To Teach Guitar

Although Sanel has a lesson plan to follow when teaching guitar, he often communicates music concepts in different and alternate ways. This ensures that the student will understand the concepts and are excited to try them at home. Sanel often encourages the student to teach concepts back to him.

Recorded Guitar Demonstrations

When learning guitar, practicing smart is key. Sanel provides recorded guitar demonstrations, when needed, to help the student with their practice. Practice is essential to growth in guitar learning. It’s the days away from the lesson time that is most valuable.

Share The Music

Students are encouraged to share the music they’re learning with their parents, family, and peers. Sanel believes that the student will receive a sense of accomplishment and confidence when playing guitar for others.

Establish Excellence

Sanel believes that music learning is for life! He believes it takes discipline and effort to achieve anything worthwhile. To Sanel, learning guitar is like anything else, it takes time and effort to become excellent. Sanel’s students are encouraged to take guitar exams and perform in online concerts. He believes that this encourages a student to strive for excellence in their performances and presentation. The added benefit is that this excellence spills over into so many other areas of their life!

Demonstrate The Goal And Explain Why

Sanel believes that when a student is learning guitar it’s important for him to break down the concepts and explain how and why they work together to accomplish a musical goal. Sanel’s ability to demonstrate the finished piece or musical idea is beneficial to the student as they get to hear the goal they’re working towards.
